Villa Pinciana is a 54 hectares estate, part of which is dedicated to vine growing. It was planted in 2003, with a prevalence of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon vines, to which other varieties of red such as Petit Verdot, Syrah and Cabernet Franc are combined. The whites include Vermentino and Viognier.
An estate of vines and olive trees which extends over the hills of Capalbio towards the sea. In the midst of this land, emerges a new, surprising vocation for wine, at the southern tip of Tuscany. The climate is typically that of a hilly country, with cool winds blowing, keeping summer temperatures fresher throughout the region. Because the land faces the Tyrrhenian Sea it is constantly ventilated, and thanks to the particular quality of the clay in the soil, the conditions are exceptional for a new but expert wine growing. The little hill at the foot of Capalbios castle, on which all the winerys vineyards grow, is guaranteed intense sunlight from early morning until late evening.
The vineyards extend over an area of approximately 100 meters above the sea level, with strong inclinations. The grounds are characterised by a structure of medium blend, with a good dose of calcium and a skeleton of sandy-slimy mix, with little organic substance but rich in potassium which gives the land a structure which is well oxygenated and not compact.
The strategy of the Villa Pinciana Estate, as producers of a new brand, is to improve quality year after year, with the goal of extending the vineyard over 15 hectares. Meticulous pruning, exclusively hand-picked grapes, selection of grapes in the vinyard and in the winery; the use of small barriques selected in Bordeaux: these are just a few of the strategies employed by Villa Pinciana to obtain a top quality of wine. The philosophy for production follows a procedure of interventions that are limited within the wine making process. The maremma origin of the wines produced is obtained blending autochthonous varieties with international grapes.
